Posting Guidelines

Posted on Mon May 2nd, 2005 @ 1:17pm by Captain Tal Feryn

Hey guys, just wanted to give you the posting guidelines again in case everyone didn`t see them. Please try to adhere to these to alleviate some of the editing I have to do. Thanks.

>> Much like is being done now, there`s a title box, however, you do not need to put the name of the mission first like we have been doing since that`s already in the database and is automatically printed. In the title box, just put the name of your post and what part it is.

>> You do not need to put a signature at the bottom of your post since you have to log in and there`s a section at the top saying who wrote it along with a link to your bio. The only reason you would need to put a signature is if you`re writing for an NPC character and your character isn`t in the post at all.

>> You do not need to start a post with a < Location > or < Time > tag since there is now a field where you will enter it without the brackets: Bridge, 0900 Hours, MD 1. Please don`t put USS Nimitz since we all know that`s what our ship is. If you`re posting someplace that isn`t on the Nimitz, then specify that: Earth, Starfleet Headquarters, 0900 Hours, MD 1.

>> If you switch locations during your post, we will use a similar convention, however, there is a noticable difference between what we`re doing now and what needs to be done with SMS. If you switch locations, the correct syntax iseither : << Location, Time >>, < Location, Time > or == Location, Time ==. PLEASE NOTE: It is very important that there are spaces between the brackets or whatever you use to open and close the tag, and the text. If you type (parenthesis there for emphasis): <<(Location)>>, <(Location)> or ==(Location)== it will not display properly in the database or the site. This also applies to tags, which should be: << TAG >> or < TAG >. The spaces are critical!

>> Make sure that every post is started with ON: and ended with OFF. If you choose, you can use < ON > or << ON >>, but again, spaces are critical here. Please do not forget them, because it means that I have to go into the system and correct this and frankly, I have better things to do with my time, not to sound harsh, but I really don`t wanna have to fix posts every day, so please just pay attention to this. Now, I understand that it may be an adjustment for some people, so I`m not gonna be a Nazi about it at first, but do your best to watch for this.
